Lead Water Damage & Mold Remediation Specialist
IAQ Experts is seeking an experienced Lead Water Damage & Mold Remediation Specialist to join our growing restoration and indoor air quality team.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone with strong experience in water damage mitigation, structural drying, mold remediation, containment, demolition, and indoor air quality services. The right candidate will be capable of leading a crew, managing job sites, operating restoration equipment, and ensuring every project is completed safely, professionally, and according to company and industry standards.
Position Overview
The Lead Technician will oversee restoration projects from initial setup through completion. This person must understand how to properly assess water-damaged areas, establish containment, perform extraction and demolition, set and monitor drying equipment, assist with mold remediation, and maintain accurate job documentation.
This position will also support IAQ Experts' HVAC and indoor air quality services when needed.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise field technicians and restoration crews
- Perform water extraction, water mitigation, structural drying, and demolition
- Set up and monitor dehumidifiers, air movers, HEPA air scrubbers, and other restoration equipment
- Perform moisture mapping and document moisture readings throughout the drying process
- Understand water-loss conditions and appropriate mitigation procedures
- Perform mold remediation and microbial cleaning
- Build and maintain proper containment and controlled work areas
- Establish HEPA-filtered air scrubbing and negative-air control when required
- Remove affected drywall, insulation, flooring, trim, cabinetry, and other damaged materials when included in the scope
- HEPA vacuum, clean, and treat affected surfaces according to the approved scope and product requirements
- Follow proper PPE, safety, and jobsite procedures
- Assist with HVAC/air duct cleaning and indoor air quality projects when needed
- Maintain compliance with applicable IICRC, NADCA, company, and safety procedures
- Take clear before, during, and after photos and maintain accurate job documentation
- Maintain equipment logs and drying documentation
- Communicate daily job progress, concerns, and additional findings to management
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, property managers, commercial clients, and other trades
- Train and mentor junior technicians
- Ensure company vehicles, equipment, and materials are properly maintained and accounted for
- Perform final walkthroughs and help ensure customer satisfaction
Qualifications
Water damage/restoration experience is required. We are looking for someone who understands restoration work and is comfortable taking responsibility for a project in the field.
Preferred qualifications include experience with water mitigation, structural drying, mold remediation, containment, HEPA filtration, demolition, moisture meters, dehumidifiers, air movers, HVAC/duct cleaning, and indoor air quality services.
IICRC certifications are strongly preferred, particularly water restoration-related training. NADCA or HVAC cleaning experience is a plus.
Candidates must also have a valid driver's license, reliable attendance, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the physical ability to lift and move restoration equipment and work in attics, crawlspaces, mechanical areas, and other demanding environments.
