Overview:

The Lead Trailer Technician serves as the primary on-site customer contact in the absence of a supervisor or manager, serve as the on-site operational lead by prioritizing work execution, supporting issue escalation, reinforcing safety standards, and ensuring customer commitments are met. This role supports the scheduling and coordination of all trailer pickups and deliveries, performs ongoing maintenance and sanitation and cleaning services throughout the rental duration, and transports and sets up all types of trailers including restroom, shower, and related trailers at customer locations. The Lead Trailer Technician works closely with local leadership to resolve customer issues and ensure trailers are properly maintained, operational, and returned to the USS branch at the end of the rental period. This role provides day-to-day operational leadership and field-level decision support but does not carry formal people management or disciplinary authority.

Responsibilities:
  • Transport, deliver, set up, service, break down, and retrieve all types of trailers including
    restroom, shower, and combo trailers at customer and event locations in accordance with scheduled work orders.
  • Perform required servicing, maintenance, and janitorial support on trailers throughout delivery, rental duration, and pick-up, ensuring trailers remain safe, clean, and fully operational.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during delivery, servicing, or pick-up, including basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC-related concerns.
  • Serve as the primary on-site customer contact in the absence of management, resolving service issues and escalating concerns as appropriate to ensure customer satisfaction and contract compliance.
  • Support dispatch and leadership by identifying field-level constraints, recommending routing or workload adjustments, and communicating real-time conditions that may impact service execution.
  • Conduct daily pre-shift & post-shift vehicle inspections & report deficiencies to the shop immediately. Also, report improper operation, faulty equipment, and unusual conditions to the Operations Supervisor/Manager.
  • Support accident investigations by gathering information and completing required documentation.
  • Assist with Safety tailgate meetings as needed.
  • Serve as a resource to drivers regarding vehicle issues encountered by the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) and reports issues to members of management and safety.
  • Support the onboarding, training, and re-training of new and existing drivers and technicians, including reinforcing standard work and best practices.
  • Act as a positive role model by promoting professionalism, accountability, and teamwork across the trailer division.
  • Maintain telephone or radio contact with dispatch to receive additional instructions, changes to work locations, etc.
  • Complete and maintain required truck logs and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operational, safety, and customer service objectives.
  • In the absence of a supervisor or manager, serve as the acting team leader, providing leadership support to Trailer team members by.
  • Assisting with maintenance decisions and issue escalation.
  • Providing guidance during incidents or accidents.
  • Distributing and reinforcing leadership, safety, and operational communications to the team.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

There are not direct supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum two years of commercial driving experience.
  • Valid Driver License (CDL A, B or C).

  • Lift up to 40lbs from your waist to your shoulders
  • Lift 30lbs from the floor to your head

  • Push 100lbs and pull 100lbs horizontally

Salary Range: $23.94 – $33.52 / hour Pay Transparency Statement: At United Site Services, our salary ranges reflect the minimum and maximum base pay for the posted position applicable to all locations across the US. Within the posted salary range, individual pay is determined by the geographic location, job related skills, experience, education, and certifications.
