Job Description
Technical Leadership
- Lead the engineering and design of overhead transmission line projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV+.
- Provide technical oversight for routing, structure selection, conductor selection, foundation design coordination, and line optimization.
- Review and approve engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and project deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, utility standards, and industry best practices.
- Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews of engineering work products.
Project Management
- Manage multiple transmission line projects simultaneously.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
- Coordinate with clients, permitting agencies, subcontractors, and internal multidisciplinary teams.
- Monitor project progress and proactively identify and resolve technical and project-related issues.
- Support project risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
Team Leadership
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers.
- Provide technical guidance and professional development support.
- Lead design reviews and project meetings.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Client Relations & Business Development
- Serve as a primary technical point of contact for clients.
- Support proposal development, scope definition, fee estimates, and project pursuits.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Identify opportunities for additional services and business growth.

The Successful Applicant
A successful Lead Transmission Line Engineer should have:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 8-12 years of transmission line engineering experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Strong knowledge of transmission line design software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER.
- Experience with overhead transmission systems from 69kV through 500kV+.
- Knowledge of NESC, ASCE 10, and utility design standards.
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and delivering complex utility projects.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
