The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a VMware-based infrastructure and associated storage systems in a government environment. This senior-level position requires deep expertise in virtualization technologies and a strong commitment to supporting mission-critical systems. This position is available in Washington, D.C. -or- Beltsville, MDResponsibilities include, but are not limited to :Lead the end-to-end execution of hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) and private cloud deployments (VMware, Nutanix), providing technical directions to systems engineersDesign, architect, and implement virtual infrastructure (VI) environmentsMaintain all VMware virtual infrastructure environmentsManage all physical hardware hosting the virtual infrastructureMonitor availability and performance of all VI enterprise systemsMaintain and provide VM backupsProvide 24/7 Level 3 support to virtual infrastructure issues on a rotating basisParticipate in design and architecture of data center network infrastructureProduce architectural documentation for logical and physical virtual infrastructure environmentsProvide and maintain customer virtual machinesWork with vendors to provide government solutions to customers' needsHarden all infrastructure on the environment to agency standardsAssist customers in designing and implementing enterprise solutions in a virtual environmentCollaborate with other teams to provide infrastructure solutions for their needsWork independently without supervision and report back to the team of issues that may arise with the infrastructureCommunicate issues and troubleshooting steps to managementManage resource utilization to ensure performance and plan for future growthAbility to lift 60lbs, and endure prolonged standingRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:7-10 years of demonstrated experience working with VMWare and understanding of the P2V (physical to virtual) processExperience with Hyperconverged systems such as Dell EMC VXRail and/or PowerFlexDeep knowledge of VMware VCF, ESXi, Nutanix, and storage technologies (vSAN/SDS)Expert experience with Linux/Windows operation systemsExperience with Cisco networkingDay-to-day data management and operational support for distributed data systems, including the entire lifecycle including planning; device and component preparation; solution testing; data placement; backup retention, recall, recovery; and deletionExperience with STIG compliance and implementation, secure virtual environments, capacity planning, performance, and reportingActive Top-Secret ClearanceDesired Skills:Knowledge of/experience with Nutanix or Red Hat VirtualizationExperience with PowerShell scriptingExperience with ansible automationHardware networking (Dell, HP, Cisco) experienceSalary at Seneca is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements.
