Job Description
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – EMERGENCY SERVICES & NURSING OPERATIONS:
- Position: Executive Director – Emergency Services & Nursing Operations.
- Leadership Role: Executive-level nursing/operations leadership.
- Setting: Hospital, outpatient, and clinical environments.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
- Lead the overall operations of Emergency Services and Nursing Operations.
- Oversee care delivery, quality and safety outcomes, employee engagement, patient experience, regulatory compliance, and fiscal management.
- Develop and implement processes and programs that improve patient care and support organizational growth.
- Collaborate with physicians, service lines, rural providers, and community leaders to maximize care coordination.
- Foster a culture of trust, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage departmental operations, budgets, strategic planning, partnerships, and resource allocation.
- Serve as an administrative leader and liaison with physicians, medical staff departments, sections, and committees.
- Oversee clinical services, standards of care, staffing plans, patient care evaluation, and process improvement.
- Lead, manage, mentor, and support department leaders.
- Develop and mentor current and future leaders to support succession planning.
- Align and standardize care delivery while recognizing differences in patient populations and care settings.
- Collaborate across service lines to improve patient flow and coordination of care.
- Ensure compliance with specialty designation and accreditation requirements.
- Use evidence, research, and outcomes data to drive operational improvements.
- Promote patient and workplace safety and encourage reporting of unsafe practices.
- Apply knowledge of reimbursement systems and payer sources when evaluating operational efficiency.
- Demonstrate innovation in care delivery and care coordination.
- Participate in emergency/disaster response and recovery activities when assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- MSN or other healthcare/business-related Master's degree – REQUIRED.
- 5+ years of progressively responsible management experience in a hospital, outpatient, or clinical environment – REQUIRED.
- Strong communication, management, and leadership development skills.
- Current Registered Nurse license – REQUIRED.
- Professional specialty certification – Preferred.
- Valid driver's license when driving for work-related purposes – REQUIRED.
STATE LICENSE:
- Iowa RN License Required.
- Compact License Accepted.
