Job Description

The Learning and Technology Support position provides comprehensive technical support and educational technology guidance to faculty, staff, and students, serving as the primary point of contact for Blackboard Ultra and other university teaching technologies. This role combines hands-on technical assistance with educational technology implementation, including training faculty on emerging AI and VR/AR tools, supporting video content creation, and maintaining specialized facilities like the One Button Studio and Digital Literacy Lab. The position requires knowledge in learning management systems administration and emerging educational technologies. This position works collaboratively with the Academic Technology team to recommend and deploy engaging content through media and tools.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide daily technical assistance to faculty, staff, and students across all university teaching technologies, with specialized focus on Blackboard Ultra.
  • Assist in training faculty in the use of Blackboard and other instructional technology tools
  • Respond promptly to user inquiries via phone, email, and in-person consultations regarding online learning platforms and educational technology issues
  • Serve as an institutional administrator for Blackboard, maintaining system integrity and user access
  • Assist in identifying, evaluating, and integrating innovative educational technologies into both online and ground-based courses
  • Support development of technology-driven instructional solutions that enhance student engagement and learning outcomes
  • Create comprehensive training resources and documentation to support independent learners and provide ongoing faculty support
  • Maintain and update the Academic Technology website to ensure current and accessible information
  • Monitor and provide technical support for specialized facilities including One Button Studio, Podcasting studio, and Digital Literacy Lab
  • Provide assistance for faculty video content creation, including support for basic video production and editing.
  • May be required to perform other job related duties other than those specifically delineated in this description.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Experience working in higher education, or online administration
  • Broad-based knowledge and skill in operating a variety of software applications used in multimedia and learning management systems.
  • Experience working specifically with the Blackboard.
  • Ability to work and train in both PC and Macintosh environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, basic networking principles, web browser, email client, and integrated office suites and web-based development tools.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and ability to deliver effective oral and written communications.
  • Willingness to participate in special training programs and classes as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and the ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Possess and demonstrate capacity for problem determination and resolution, specifically related to problems of a technical nature.
  • Possess and demonstrate high attention to detail and ability to prioritize competing tasks and responsibilities.
  • Possess and demonstrate excellent customer service, cooperation, and team working skills/abilities
  • Position requires excellent dependability, integrity, and confidentiality.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, and Experience:

  • Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree

  • Minimum Work Experience:

  • 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree preferred in instructional design, instructional technology, computer science or related field.

  • Higher Education experience

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and reach
  • Manual dexterity to efficiently operate a computer keyboard and other business machines
  • Near vision sufficient to read written communications and computer display screens
  • Adequate hearing to communicate effectively in person and by phone
