The Senior Instructional Designer will translate the Danaher Organization Design Framework, related methodologies, and practitioner knowledge into clear, practical, human-centered learning experiences, Playbook content, tools, and resources that enable HR practitioners to apply Organization Design confidently and consistently in their work.
The role will combine instructional design, content development, performance support, learning evaluation, and product thinking. The contractor will partner closely with the Organization Effectiveness Portfolio Leader and subject matter experts to convert complex concepts into usable guidance while maintaining the integrity of the underlying methodology.
Key Responsibilities:
Framework-to-Practice Translation
Develop a deep understanding of the Organization Design Framework, design philosophy, key concepts, and intended practitioner experience.
Translate conceptual Organization Design methodology into clear, practical, practitioner-oriented guidance.
Identify what users need to know, understand, decide, and do at each stage of the Framework.
Break complex concepts into usable steps without oversimplifying or weakening the methodology.
Design content around real practitioner needs, decisions, and use cases rather than academic descriptions alone.
Identify where users require additional explanation, examples, decision support, practice, or performance support.
Clarify when, why, and how a method, activity, or tool should be used.
Maintain consistent terminology and clear connections across the Framework, Playbook, Community of Practice, and capability-building resources.
Playbook Architecture and Development
Design and maintain the information architecture and content structure for the Organization Design Playbook.
Develop practitioner-focused content from approved Framework components and subject matter expert input.
Create clear navigation, logical sequencing, cross-references, and pathways through the Playbook.
Write concise explanatory content and practical application guidance.
Develop facilitator guidance and supporting instructions where appropriate.
Create examples and illustrative scenarios based on approved inputs.
Integrate approved Danaher and DBS resources and ensure they are presented in a coherent practitioner experience.
Support iterative releases so useful resources can be made available as they are approved.
Establish and apply consistent content-development, design, and quality standards.
Incorporate user and stakeholder feedback into future versions and releases.
Learning Needs and Audience Analysis
Define key learner and practitioner audiences in partnership with the Portfolio Leader.
Translate Organization Design capability expectations into specific learning and performance needs.
Identify differences in need by role, experience level, and expected application.
Identify prerequisite knowledge and likely barriers to successful application.
Determine where formal learning is appropriate and where a job aid, reference guide, coaching, peer learning, or practice opportunity would better meet the need.
Translate real questions and recurring needs from advisory engagements, Community sessions, and Office Hours into learning requirements.
Help prioritize development based on business need, learner need, expected impact, and available capacity.
Learning Architecture and Pathways
Develop a coherent learning architecture for Organization Design capability building.
Define measurable learning objectives and expected outcomes.
Recommend delivery modalities based on the learning need and the context in which the capability will be applied.
Develop blended, cross-modality learning pathways using appropriate combinations of live learning, self-directed resources, tools, practice, peer learning, coaching, and Office Hours.
Create logical sequencing across foundational, intermediate, and advanced resources where appropriate.
Design opportunities for application, practice, reflection, feedback, and reinforcement.
Connect Community of Practice learning activities to broader capability-building pathways.
Help practitioners identify the right resource based on the challenge or decision they are facing.
External Learning Content Evaluation and Integration
Support structured review of external Organization Design learning assets, including AIHR content when applicable.
Map external content against Danaher Organization Design capability requirements and learning objectives.
Identify alignment, gaps, duplication, conflicting terminology, and areas requiring adaptation or custom development.
Recommend which content can be leveraged, adapted, supplemented, or replaced.
Organize selected external content into coherent learner pathways.
Develop Danaher-specific context, examples, guidance, or performance-support resources to close identified gaps.
Document content decisions, dependencies, and recommendations to support future maintenance.
Learning and Performance Asset Development
Design and develop facilitator presentations, participant materials, and supporting learning resources.
Playbook architecture, navigation model, and content standards
Developed Playbook modules and practitioner guidance
Job aids, worksheets, tools, templates, and checklists
Facilitator and participant materials
Community of Practice learning content and application activities
External content assessment and mapping, including AIHR content when applicable

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
Demonstrated expertise in instructional design and adult learning.
Demonstrated experience developing learning content for experienced professional audiences.
Knowledge of learning-program evaluation methods and the ability to define measurable learning objectives.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Copilot.
Excellent writing, editing, information-design, and visual-communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex or conceptual material into clear, practical guidance.
Experience developing performance-support resources and job aids, not only formal courses.
Experience designing blended or cross-modality learning experiences.
Strong stakeholder, subject matter expert interviewing, and content-development skills.
Ability to work effectively with evolving source material and deliver through iterative development.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, consistency, and content quality.
Able to work remotely within the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience developing content related to Organization Design, Organization Development, Human Resources, leadership, change, or transformation.
Experience designing learning for enterprise or global audiences.
Experience with practitioner playbooks, toolkits, performance support, or product-based learning portfolios.
Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
Experience evaluating and integrating third-party learning content.
Success Profile:
The successful contractor will be a senior instructional designer who is both a rigorous learning professional and a practical simplifier. This person will be able to understand complex Organization Design concepts, identify what is unclear or missing, and turn the methodology into high-quality resources that practitioners can readily understand, navigate, and apply in real business situations.
Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is between $63-$65 per hour.
