CHRISTIAN PURPOSE AND EXPECTATIONS:
All employees proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through their employment, and thereby further BGEA’s religious mission.
Department Detail –The Human Resources department mission is to demonstrate (proclaim) the Gospel of Jesus Christ in “what” it does for the ministry, the HR employees and their families and “how” they do it. They will also come alongside their employees to encourage, counsel and support them in their response to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all they do.
Job Summary –The Learning and Development Manager assesses organizational, leadership, and employee development needs and partners with the Director to identify appropriate learning and development solutions that strengthen individual and organizational effectiveness. This position designs, proposes, and evaluates high-quality learning initiatives, leadership development programs, coaching and assessment experiences, and other development solutions that build capability and improve performance. Provides strategic and programmatic leadership for L&D initiatives, applying sound adult learning and instructional design principles across multiple methods, while partnering with the Training and Development Specialist on program development, delivery, administration, and ongoing learning operations. This position ensures L&D efforts align with ministry priorities, hallmarks, and organizational needs and is also responsible for leading and continuously improving the annual performance review process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Learning and Development
- Partners with the Director in the development and continuous improvement of a comprehensive learning and development strategy aligned with ministry priorities, Hallmarks, and organizational needs
- Provides leadership, direction, coaching, and development to the Training and Development Specialist; establishes priorities and ensures effective execution of learning and development initiatives and operations.
- Collaborates with leaders and departments to assess organizational, leadership, and employee development needs; recommends appropriate learning, coaching, assessment, and other development solutions based on identified needs
- Designs, proposes, implements, and evaluates learning and development programs, curriculum, resources, and experiences using sound adult learning and instructional design principles. Partnering with the Training and Development Specialist.
- Provides oversight and direction for new employee orientation and other ministry-wide onboarding experiences, partnering with the Training and Development Specialist on program development, coordination, delivery, and continuous improvement
- Provides oversight and direction for the LMS, learning records, and related learning resources, partnering with the Training and Development Specialist to ensure effective administration, content management, tracking, reporting, and continuous improvement.
- Supports the development of leaders and managers through leadership development programs, workshops, coaching, assessments, 360-degree feedback, individual development planning, and other development experiences.
- Conducts employee exit interviews, identifies and analyzes themes and trends, and shares relevant insights with Human Resources leadership to inform employee experience, retention, leadership development, and organizational improvement efforts.
- Partners with Human Resources staff and ministry leaders to support succession and talent development efforts, including identifying development needs and implementing solutions that strengthen leadership capability and readiness.
- Facilitates learning and development programs for employees and leaders using a variety of effective delivery methods, including group discussion, presentation, experiential learning, simulations, and technology-enabled learning.
- Reviews learning materials and programs developed or delivered by internal subject matter experts and external providers to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with identified learning objectives and ministry standards.
- Establishes appropriate measures of success and evaluates the effectiveness and impact of learning and development initiatives through assessments, surveys, feedback, application, and other available measures.
- Maintains knowledge of current and emerging practices, technologies, and trends in learning and development, leadership development, coaching, assessment, and instructional design; recommends appropriate enhancements to ministry practices.
- Assists in developing and managing the learning and development budget and external resources, maintaining appropriate records and monitoring expenditures.
- Performance Management
- Leads the coordination, administration, and continuous improvement of the annual performance review process in partnership with the Director and other Human Resources staff.
- Develops and maintains performance management tools, processes, resources, communications, and training to support effective implementation of the performance review process.
- Partners with Human Resources and ministry leaders to promote effective performance management practices, including goal setting, ongoing feedback, employee development, and meaningful performance conversations.
- Develops implementation plans and coordinates activities, timelines, communications, and resources necessary for successful execution of the annual performance review cycle.
- Reviews, monitors, and analyzes organization-wide performance management participation, results, and trends and provides appropriate reporting and insights to Human Resources and ministry leadership.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of performance management tools and processes and recommends improvements based on organizational needs, feedback, and emerging practices.

Job Specifications
Skills and Knowledge
- 7-10 years of progressively responsible L&D, Talent, and/or Organizational Development experience
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Instructional Design, Education, Business or a related field strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience designing, developing and facilitating effective learning experiences for employees and leaders; strong knowledge of adult learning and instructional design principles required.
- Experience leveraging learning technologies, eLearning and other delivery methods to create scalable and effective development solutions preferred.
- Exceptional written, verbal, presentation and facilitation skills with demonstrated ability to build credibility and effectively partner with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization
- Position requires strong commitment to continuous learning, professional growth, and staying current with evolving L&D practices and technologies.
- A demonstrated willingness to engage in professional development activities in order to develop and improve new and current skills, and to adapt to the evolving needs of the ministry
- Demonstrated experience coaching leaders and facilitating assessment and 360-degree feedback, including helping individuals interpret results, identify development priorities, establish actionable development plans, and sustain progress over time
- Ability to partner with leaders to identify performance, leadership, and organizational development needs and determine appropriate solutions.
- Demonstrated experience designing and implementing leadership and management development programs.
- Ability to translate organizational priorities into learning initiatives and manage programs from needs assessment through implementation and reinforcement
- Experience establishing success measures and evaluating learning effectiveness application, and organizational impact
- Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
