As one of the fastest-growing Colleges in the UK, Weston College is excited to be opening the brand-new Advanced Manufacturing Technical Excellence College, which will welcome its first learners in September 2026.

We are currently looking for a Learning Support Assistant (Apprenticeships), to support the team, in Filton, Bristol.

This is a part-time, term-time only role, working 40 weeks per year, 29.6 hours per week (4 days per week).

We may consider applications from candidates who wish to work 2 or 3 days per week.

As this is a term-time only position, the anticipated start date is September.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential learning support to apprentices with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), particularly those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). To ensure that apprentices are proactively supported to develop their independence and to achieve their full potential.

Day to day duties of the role

  • To use relevant professional feedback and input from apprentices and their families to write and implement high-quality Additional Learning Support (ALS) Plans for an agreed caseload of apprentices.

  • To provide regular support for an identified caseload of apprentices, either 1:1 or in small groups to enable them to overcome barriers to learning.

  • To support apprentices to participate in all aspects of college activity and to develop their study skills and strategies for independent learning.

  • To provide personal care/medical support as required for individual apprentices with care plans.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Experience of supporting young people with a range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

  • Experience of working within an education or social care setting.

  • Knowledge and understanding of learning difficulties and disabilities, and the impact this has on learning.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of other professionals.
