    Description

    Leather Room Inventory Assistant

    The inventory assistant for the leather room manages the receipt, storage, and distribution of leather hides and supplies. They track stock levels, fulfill material requests for upholstery, ensure proper storage conditions, and conduct physical cycle counts to prevent material shortages.

    Responsibilities to include:

    • Stock Management: Track the movement of leather hides into and out of storage, accurately updating inventory databases.
    • Material Preparation: Pull leather hides and kits for upholstery production lines and leather cutters.
    • Quality Control: Inspect incoming deliveries of leather for defects, scratches, or color discrepancies against purchase orders.
    • Storage and Preservation: Maintain a climate-controlled, organized storage area to prevent leather from drying out, cracking, or becoming misshapen during storage.
    • Cycle Counts: Perform routine physical counts of the leather stock and reconcile any discrepancies with the digital inventory system.

    Ideal candidate will have:

    • Product Knowledge: Basic understanding of leather types (e.g., full-grain, top-grain, aniline) and how to identify specific grades and colors.
    • Computer Proficiency: Ability to use inventory management software, specifically JD Edwards.
    • Physical Stamina: Ability to handle, lift, and maneuver heavy, bulky leather rolls or hides (often up to 50+ lbs).
    • Attention to Detail: Meticulous organizational skills to accurately tag, log, and categorize different batches and dye lots
    • Ability to drive a forklift
