Leave & Benefits Specialist to provide critical support for leave administration, benefits coordination, and employee communications during a period of continued growth.
Salary/Hourly Rate: $35/hr - $40/hr
Position Overview: The Leave & Benefits Specialist will serve as a key resource for employees navigating leave of absence programs and benefits-related matters. This position will focus primarily on leave administration while also supporting benefits processes as needed. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of leave regulations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle sensitive employee matters with empathy and discretion.
Responsibilities of the Leave & Benefits Specialist:- Administer leave of absence programs in compliance with company policies and federal and state regulations, including FMLA, ADA, PFML, STD/LTD, and Workers' Compensation.
- Review and evaluate leave eligibility, required documentation, and healthcare provider certifications.
- Guide employees through leave processes, timelines, and available options.
- Partner with Payroll, HR, managers, vendors, legal teams, and healthcare providers to ensure smooth coordination of leave cases.
- Track active and upcoming leave requests, recertifications, deadlines, and return-to-work schedules.
- Facilitate return-to-work processes and maintain appropriate documentation.
- Support ADA accommodations and interactive process requests as needed.
- Respond to employee and manager inquiries regarding leave and benefits programs.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and medical information.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance employee experience.
- Assist with benefits administration activities including health, welfare, disability, and retirement programs.
Required Experience/Skills for the Leave & Benefits Specialist:- 1-3 years of hands-on leave administration and/or benefits administration experience.
- Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA, PFML, STD/LTD, and Workers' Compensation programs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- High level of discretion and confidentiality.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Leave & Benefits Specialist:- Experience supporting high-volume employee populations.
- Experience with HRIS and leave management systems.
- Experience administering multiple leave programs simultaneously.
- Exposure to benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee benefits communications.
Education Requirements:- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
