Are you passionate about supporting care experienced young people?  We are looking for a dedicated Leaving Care Case Worker to join our Leaving Care Team in Scarborough. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people who are leaving care.

About the service

You'll be joining an excellent Leaving Care Team within an OFSTED Outstanding-rated Local Authority, committed to strength-based and relationship-focused practice across North Yorkshire and beyond.

About the role

You will manage a case load of young people between the ages of 16 and 25 years old. This will include reviewing and co-ordinating the young person's pathway plan, acting as an advocate for the young person when required, referring to other relevant services and always striving for the best outcomes for each young person whilst working flexibly to meet their needs. You need to be able to maintain appropriate records and management information.

What we're looking for:-

  • Extensive experience supporting care experienced young people aged 16-25
  • Proven ability to work with young people with complex needs
  • Strong multi-agency working skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Leaving Care legislation and guidance
  • Understanding of legislation and procedures for asylum-seeking and refugee young people
  •  Experience of working with care leavers, particularly those with complex needs, and a strong understanding of multi-agency working.

It is an exciting time in Children and Young Peoples Services in North Yorkshire as we plan our approach in respect of the Families First Partnership Programme and how we will be responding to the social care reforms. Work is underway to plan our approach and implementations for 2027. As a result of this, some realignment may happen with job roles in the future, we want to be transparent about this in respect of this role.
