    Department: Biomedical Engineering Salary: Commensurate with experience

    Description:

    The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Houston is seeking applicants for a full-time, non-tenure-track, Lecturer position. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and, as appropriate, graduate courses in biomedical engineering based on departmental instructional needs.

    Potential teaching areas may include foundational biomedical engineering courses, laboratory courses, engineering design, and courses within the department's specialized curricular areas.

    Courses may be offered in multiple formats, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online instruction.

    Additional responsibilities may include developing course materials, assessing student learning, supporting laboratory or design-based instruction, mentoring students, and participating in departmental service activities.

Applicants are also encouraged to provide a teaching philosophy or statement, evidence of teaching effectiveness, and any other materials demonstrating their qualifications for the position.

    Qualifications

    An earned Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related engineering or scientific field is required. Candidates should demonstrate the academic preparation and subject-matter expertise necessary to teach courses assigned by the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Previous college-level teaching experience is preferred.

    Employees are expected to have a home address in the state of Texas for the duration of their appointments.

    Official transcripts are required for a faculty appointment and will be requested upon selection of the final candidates.
