Position Overview
Project Nova is a multi-year platform transformation program with Evernorth, building a new cloud-native pharmacy benefit management (PBM) platform while re-implementing and migrating existing PBM capabilities and client business in waves.
The Left Arm Engineering Lead will own end-to-end engineering for the capability build arm, including engineering teams, sprint execution, technical throughput, engineering quality, and technical decision-making.
This role will partner with Product Management to ensure clear requirements, build to the target-state architecture established by the Architecture Office, and hold Delivery, Platform, Product, Quality, and DevSecOps leadership teams to a consistent engineering standard.
The ideal candidate has experience leading multi-team engineering organizations in a cloud-native environment, can make effective decisions in ambiguous situations, and can maintain a high quality bar while delivering at program pace.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end engineering delivery for the capability build arm.
- Lead and coordinate multiple engineering teams and sprint execution.
- Drive technical throughput and delivery against the Nova roadmap.
- Ensure engineering quality, technical standards, and delivery performance.
- Make technical decisions in complex and ambiguous environments.
- Partner with Product Management on requirements clarity and content.
- Ensure solutions align with target-state architecture and architecture governance.
- Drive enterprise agile delivery across multiple teams and workstreams.
- Optimize engineering processes, delivery practices, and team performance.
- Collaborate with Delivery, Platform, Product, Quality, and DevSecOps leads.
- Maintain a strong engineering quality bar while operating at program pace.
- Support modern cloud-native platform engineering and large-scale transformation initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of professional experience in engineering leadership and the required skill areas.
- Professional Degree required.
- Healthcare industry experience required.
- Experience with Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) environments strongly preferred/expected based on the program.
- Experience leading multi-team engineering organizations.
- Strong experience with cloud-native engineering and modern platform environments.
- Strong enterprise agile delivery experience.
- Experience with architecture governance and working within enterprise architecture standards.
- Experience making technical and delivery decisions under uncertainty.
- Strong engineering optimization and delivery improvement experience.
