Legal Administrative Assistant

PrideStaff is excited to share a new opportunity. An established, collaborative boutique civil litigation firm in San Diego is seeking a detailed-oriented and proactive Legal Administrative Assistant. This role is ideal for a tech-savvy legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to gain deep, hands-on exposure to civil defense, motion practice, and the discovery phase of litigation. The ideal candidate will seamlessly bridge administrative management and litigation support, working directly with an attorney to manage case readiness from client intake through trial preparation.

Primary Responsibilities
  • E-Filing & Court Compliance: Prepare, format, and electronically file (e-file) legal documents across multiple California state and federal jurisdictions using OneLegal and local court portals, ensuring strict adherence to court rules.
  • Discovery Coordination: Assist litigation teams in compiling, formatting, and organizing discovery materials, document productions, deposition notices, and case management statements under tight court-mandated deadlines.
  • Docketing & Calendaring: Actively track, calculate, and calendar critical statutory deadlines using Clio to ensure case compliance and prevent scheduling conflicts.
  • Case Management & Correspondence: Maintain and organize physical and digital case files (exceeding 100+ files), streamline document access, and professionally manage daily communications with clients, court staff, and opposing counsel.
  • Attorney & Trial Support: Schedule legal events, hearings, and client meetings; assist in preparing trial binders, exhibits, and cross-referencing records to advance overall trial readiness.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of experience handling civil litigation administrative duties within a law firm setting (experience with insurance defense or employment law is a strong plus).
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with California e-filing systems, OneLegal, and legal practice management software such as Clio. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Google Suite is required.
  • Procedural Knowledge: Basic working understanding of California Civil Procedure rules, deadline calculations, and legal document formatting.
  • Core Competencies: Exceptional organizational skills, acute attention to detail, and the ability to balance high-volume paperwork across 30+ active cases simultaneously.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (B.S./B.A.) in Criminology, Law, or a related field, or a legal secretary certificate is highly preferred.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $20.00 - $26.00
