Legal Assistance Developer (P/T) Make a meaningful impact for older and vulnerable Virginians by guiding Virginia's statewide legal services and advocacy initiatives.Purposeful work that strengthens services for Virginians Engaged, inclusive, and team-oriented environmentJob Duties:Telework is limited in accordance with the Commonwealth's telework policy. This part-time employee will be assigned to work 24 hours per week, and the specific days will vary. The Division for Aging Services within the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, in collaboration with community partners, provides and advocates for resources and services to improve the employment, quality of life, security, and independence of older Virginians, Virginians with disabilities, and their families. We are seeking a Legal Assistance Developer to serve as the Commonwealth's Legal Assistance Developer, as mandated by the Older Americans Act (OAA). This position ensures compliance with the OAA and leads Virginia's legal services advocacy efforts. The role builds strong partnerships with statewide stakeholders, including Area Agencies on Aging, legal service providers, the long-term care ombudsman, elder justice agencies, and adult protective services, to coordinate training, technical assistance, resources, and oversight of legal assistance that protects the rights of older and vulnerable Virginians. Duties include, but are not limited to:Oversight, monitoring, and complianceTraining, technical assistance, and stakeholder supportProgram development, policy leadership, and systems coordinationOther duties and/or special projects as assigned. Completes duties and/or projects as needed or as directed by the supervisor.Minimum Qualifications:Training and/or experience in legal services/law, elder justice, social work, or public administration, or related fields.Knowledge:Working knowledge of legal issues affecting older and vulnerable adults (housing, Medicaid, benefits, guardianship, etc.) Working knowledge of aging services networks, including AAAs, legal aid, ombudsman, APS, and elder justice partners. Proficiency with common office technology and software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)Skills in:Proficiency with common office technology and software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Developing and delivering training and technical assistance. Creating guidelines, service standards, and policies. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong problem-solving skills, with comfort in shaping processes and role expectations as programs evolve.Ability to:Explain technical information clearly to diverse audiences. Work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and make sound recommendations. Work effectively in a dynamic, evolving environment, demonstrating initiative. Develop policy recommendations and support system improvements.Additional Considerations:Some working knowledge of the Older Americans Act (Title III‑B) and related regulations.
