Legal Assistant – Temporary with Opportunity for Conversion Buffalo, New York
Insero Talent Solutions has partnered with a national law firm in their search for a Legal Assistant to join their litigation practice.
This role will provide direct support to attorneys handling active litigation matters and is well suited for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced legal environment. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for a combination of litigation support, court filings, document preparation, calendar management, case coordination, and general administrative support.
The ideal candidate will bring litigation experience, strong knowledge of court procedures and filings, and the ability to independently manage competing deadlines and priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day administrative and litigation support to attorneys throughout the lifecycle of active matters.
Prepare, revise, proofread, and format legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, discovery materials, motions, subpoenas, and other case-related documents.
Coordinate and complete electronic filings with New York State and Federal Courts.
Maintain attorney calendars and track important case deadlines, court appearances, depositions, meetings, and other commitments.
Coordinate scheduling with clients, courts, opposing counsel, experts, court reporters, interpreters, and other outside parties.
Maintain organized electronic and physical matter files, including opening and closing files and ensuring documents are accurately saved within the firm's document management system.
Assist with correspondence, document production, large mailings, expense reports, check requests, and other administrative needs.
Communicate professionally with clients and external parties while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
Provide overflow support to attorneys and other team members as needed.
Assist with additional administrative and case-related projects in a deadline-driven environment.
Qualifications
3+ years of legal assistant experience supporting litigation matters.
Experience handling workers compensation claims is a plus, but not required.
Experience with New York State and Federal Court e-filing strongly preferred.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Outlook; experience with Teams and Excel is also helpful.
Experience working within legal document and/or case management systems.
Strong proofreading, formatting, organizational, and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple attorneys, matters, deadlines, and competing priorities.
Proactive approach to calendar management and anticipating upcoming deadlines.
High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a busy legal environment.
