Legal Assistant (Litigation)

Downtown San Diego, CA | Hybrid Schedule After 90 Days

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: Up to $35.00 per hour
  • Hybrid Schedule: Eligible after 90 days of employment
  • Transportation Benefit: Up to $200 per month for parking, rideshare, public transportation, or commuting expenses

We are seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join our downtown San Diego office. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with a team of three attorneys, including an employment law partner and attorneys focused on business and general litigation.

We are looking for a highly organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands litigation from start to finish, and can effectively manage competing priorities. Position Summary

The Legal Assistant will provide comprehensive litigation and administrative support to attorneys handling employment, business, and general litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of litigation legal assistant experience, extensive knowledge of State and Federal Court procedures, and hands-on experience with electronic court filings.

This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage, organize, and maintain client files and internal case documents
  • Prepare discovery and pleading shells using firm templates and macros
  • Electronically file court documents in State and Federal Courts
  • Coordinate service of process and court filings
  • Manage attorney calendars, including court appearances, depositions, deadlines, and meetings
  • Arrange court reporters, videographers, and other vendors for depositions
  • Monitor and reconcile court dockets and filing deadlines
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and other parties
  • Contact court clerks regarding procedural and administrative matters
  • Prepare trial binders, exhibits, and related case materials
  • Conduct legal and factual research and compile relevant information
  • Coordinate with internal departments to resolve administrative and case-related issues
  • Support attorneys with special projects and additional administrative tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of Litigation Legal Assistant experience
  • Strong knowledge of California State and Federal Court procedures
  • Experience with electronic court filing (e-filing) systems
  • Experience preparing discovery materials, pleading shells, and simple pleadings
  • Experience using legal templates and document automation tools/macros
  • Proficiency with:
    • Microsoft Word
    • Outlook
    • Excel
    • Adobe Acrobat
    • Court e-filing systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and meet critical deadlines
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Professional, courteous, and client-focused demeanor
