Ray Quinney & Nebeker of Salt Lake City, UT, one of the largest and most reputable full-service law firms in Utah, is looking to hire a full-time Legal Assistant for its Tax, Trusts, & Estate Planning group. This Legal Assistant position enhances the effectiveness of the attorneys in the group by performing a variety of tasks and duties such as drafting correspondence and legal documents; managing calendars for meetings; maintaining electronic files in the firm's document management system; and maintaining hardcopy client files. If this sounds like the right opportunity for you, apply today!Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesMaintain hardcopy and electronic client files Create drafts of estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, certificates of trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, tangible personal property listsResearch county recorder records, create deeds and record deedsAttend signing meetings with attorney and clients Create drafts of probate documents including petitions, death certificates, acceptances, waivers and releases, orders, letters testamentary, etc. Organize and file legal pleadings in order to ensure process requirements are met Perform administrative duties such as making copies, scanning, and answering phone callsCoordinate and manage calendars for meetings, court hearings and legal education classesCommunicate with clients, courts, outside counsel, and other affiliatesAssist with and maintain time entries, billing records and invoicing issuesAssist with preparation of 706 Estate Tax Returns and 709 Gift Tax Returns on firm softwareAssist with annual renewal of attorney licenses and continuing legal education requirements for multiple states Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesProficient in Microsoft Office and AdobeExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsOrganized with a strong attention to detailAbility to take direction and work independently with little or no supervisionAbility to keep and maintain confidential information regarding clients and firm issuesProficient typistAbility to file deeds electronically Qualifications3+ years working as an estate planning legal assistantTwo-year degree or equivalent work experienceNotary license in the state of Utah; or ability to obtain
