About the Role
Gaggos Flaggman, PLLC is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join its Troy office on a full-time basis. This role is ideal for someone with strong law firm experience, excellent secretarial skills, and the ability to keep up in a busy, detail-focused legal environment.
Probate, estate planning, elder law, trust, or business law experience is preferred. However, the firm is also open to candidates with 3+ years of strong law firm experience who bring excellent legal secretarial, administrative, organizational, and document preparation skills.
You will support the attorney with probate, estate planning, business, and related matters while helping ensure client communications, documents, filings, scheduling, and office workflows are handled with professionalism and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, revise, proofread, and format legal documents, correspondence, pleadings, and client materials
- Assist with probate, estate planning, trust, elder law, business, and related legal matters
- File probate pleadings and related documents with Michigan probate courts
- Prepare and revise estate planning documents, deeds, and related materials
- Communicate professionally with clients, courts, vendors, and other parties
- Maintain attorney calendar, deadlines, client files, and matter-related follow-up
- Organize physical and digital files with accuracy and confidentiality
- Assist with billing, administrative tasks, and general office operations
- Help keep matters moving forward in a timely, organized, and professional manner
Requirements
Experience
- Hands-on experience with Michigan probate processes, including MiFile and filings within Michigan Probate Courts
- Experience with email filing in Wayne County Probate Court
- Experience working with Registers of Deeds and e-recording deeds and other instruments
- Experience with corporate and LLC filings through the State of Michigan LARA
- Experience with all facets of estate administration, including: completing beneficiary designation forms, preparing and processing change of ownership documentation, fiduciary account reporting, transitioning from revocable to irrevocable trust administration, and administration within probate court
Qualifications
- 3+ years of law firm experience required
- Strong legal secretarial, administrative, and document preparation skills required
- Experience in probate, estate planning, trusts, elder law, or business law preferred
- Strong Microsoft Word skills, including formatting, templates, and document cleanup
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook for email, calendar, and task management
- Working knowledge of Adobe Pro and basic Microsoft Excel skills preferred
- Excellent grammar, proofreading, organization, and follow-through skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a small firm environment
- Professional communication style with clients, courts, and colleagues
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce polished, accurate work

Compensation and Benefits
- Full-time salary range starting at $65,000, depending on experience and qualifications
