MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND TRAININGaPursuant to §4101 of Title 4 GCA graduation from high school or the successfulcompletion of a GEDbTwo 2 years of experience in office clerical work including one 1 year in a legaloffice orb Any equivalent combination of experience and training including one 1 year in alegal office.NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATION a Possession of a current drivers license .NATURE OF WORKThis is entry level paralegal clerical work . Employees in this class perform general clerical work and routine paralegal clerical duties independently after initial training and work under close supervisor on a variety of more complex assignments. ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK•Answers incoming telephone calls and directs calls to appropriate personneltakes and delivers messages from callers to appropriate personnel answersinquiries andor furnishes information as appropriate.•Greets visitors and clients coming to the Corporation determines purpose ofvisit and refers visitors or clients to appropriate personnel.•Receives stamps and records all incoming legal andor miscellaneousdocuments distributes received documents to appropriate personnel according to established procedures.•Establishes a file for new clients indicating intake case number and appropriatefiling code records new clients intake case number and adverse parties onindex filing system and computer case management system records clientfolder in client file log s heet and distributes folder to appropriate personnel.•Performs preliminary interviews of new clients to determine eligibility toreceive legal services from the Corporation in accordance with established laws policies and procedures assigns new cases to attorneys following anestablished schedule.•Photocopies intake forms as well as legal documents to be filed with the Courts of Guam.•Receives and delivers all incoming mail to the Legal Secretary Supervisor.•Prepares file folder to be used as client files which includes affixing properidentifying information and inserting appropriate mechanisms to ensureadequate storage of documents.•Performs other related duties as required.MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES •Knowledge of standard legal office practices and procedures.•Ability to learn explain and apply legal terminology documents and procedures in the filing and processing of legal documents. •Ability to exercise good judgement courtesy and tact in receiving callersassisting clients and in giving and obtaining pertinent information.LEGAL CLERK I Announcement PDSC JA -13-2026 • Ability to learn and operate various office machines and equipment such as microcomputer in word processing or data base applications photocopier machines central telephone system and other office related equipment. • Ability to work effectively with the public as well as other employees. • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. • Ability to maintain records. • Skill in the safe operation of a motor vehicle. EVALUATION METHOD Applicants will be rated on a scale between 70.00 and 100.00 percent on the basis of their training education and experience in relation to the requirements of the position. DOCUMENTATION AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS In accordance with Public Law 29 -113 all new employees entering government service in Guam must meet the minimum educational requirement of a high school diploma successful completion of a General Education Development GED test or an equivalent general education high school program. Alternatively successful completion of a certificate program from a recognized accredited or certified vocational technical institution is also acceptable. To validate the credentials you claim e.g. High School Diploma College Transcript DD -214 etc. you must submit an original or certified copy of the required documents along with each employment application bearing your legal signature. Failure to provide the necessary docum entation may result in disqualification. Applicants claiming educational qualifications must submit official or verified copies of transcripts or diplomas. PROHIBITION PURSUANT TO PUBLIC LAW 28- 98 No person convicted of a sex offense under the provision of Chapter 25 of Title 9 Guam Code Annotated GCA or an offense as defined in Article 2 of Chapter 28 of Title 9 GCA in Guam or an offense in any jurisdiction which includes at a minimum all the elements of said offenses or who is listed on the Sex Offender Registry shall work in any agency or instrumentality of the government of Guam. PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREENING Applicants offered employment with the Government of Guam are required to undergo and pass a mandatory drug test prior to beginning employment. This requirement also applies to employees selected for Test Designated Positions TDP. Failure to comply with or pass the drug test will result in the withdrawal of the employment offer or appointment.
