Description

HIAS seeks a Legal Coordinator, Pro Bono & Partnerships, to provide critical administrative and programmatic support to the Pro Bono & Partnerships team. This role will work under the supervision of the Director, Pro Bono & Partnerships, and in collaboration with the Senior Pro Bono Coordinating Attorneys, Pro Bono & Partnerships.

This role can be remote in the U.S., but preference is for someone based in New York, New York, or Silver Spring, Maryland. This position may require occasional travel, and some work on evenings and weekends is required.

The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $60,000.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assists with administrative tasks, including data entry, data management, data analysis and report writing.
  • Conducts prescreens and/or intakes for clients who may be eligible for adjustment of status, U.S. citizenship, or asylum.
  • Collects client documents, prepares case files, and assists with our comprehensive pro bono case placement process.
  • Schedules appointments, meetings, trainings and events.
  • Assists in organizing and managing in-person and remote intake clinics and case launch clinics.
  • Manages interpretation/translation needs of clients, including by providing document translation and live language interpretation.
  • Manages our pro bono attorney database and assists with pro bono attorney onboarding.
  • Manages our Country Conditions Research pro bono project.
  • Provides other assistance to the attorneys on the Pro Bono & Partnerships team as needed, including assistance with filling out immigration forms.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish, Dari, Pashto or other language skills preferred.
  • Strong grammatical, editing, proofreading and writing skills.
  • Personality that enjoys interacting with clients and colleagues each day.
  • Strong commitment to social justice for low-income communities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
