Legal Engineer

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Our client is an AI native legal technology company building case intelligence software for complex litigation. Their buyers include law firm litigation teams, insurance carriers, and corporate legal departments. Customers are live in production, and after a successful founder-led sales phase, the team is now scaling its go-to-market efforts. They run lean and move fast, pairing people with AI across every function to drive high output per person.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Serve as a commercial authority, joining Account Executives in deals and engaging partners and general counsel as a peer.
• Act as a workflow architect, translating legal logic into structured product flows. No coding required.
• Lead evaluation efforts, building and running specialist legal grading of AI output to keep the quality bar where the stakes demand.
• Help prove the product’s value to skeptical buyers with credibility that only a practicing-caliber lawyer can bring.
• Own outcomes and drive progress without waiting for a meeting to set direction.

WHAT YOU BRING

• A Juris Doctor (J.D.) and 3+ years of litigation experience as an associate or junior partner.
• Credibility and executive presence with law firm partners and corporate counsel.
• Systems thinking, with the ability to map a legal workflow into structured steps and evaluation criteria.
• Daily use of AI tools and a clear point of view on where AI is right, wrong, and risky in legal work.
• Direct, crisp communication and a commercially minded, customer-facing approach.
• Comfort with ambiguity in an early-stage startup environment.
• Eligibility to work in the US for any employer (no sponsorship available).

BONUS POINTS IF YOU HAVE

• A background in medical, IP, or business litigation, especially on complex matters.
• Engineering training or strong technical fluency (helpful, not required).
• Legal operations, knowledge management, or legal tech product experience.
• Prior experience leading AI evaluation or annotation work.
• Startup experience, especially building something from zero to one.
