Would you like to join a fast-paced office dedicated to serving the citizens of Hampton? Then join our team as a Legal Investigator, which will provide you with the opportunity to work in diverse areas to aid in the prosecution of cases. The Legal Investigator will assist attorneys in preparation of criminal cases for trial and conduct special investigations as assigned by the Commonwealth's Attorney or designee.

Minimum Requirements

  • Two years of college with course work in political science, criminal justice, or a related field.
  • Three to five years' work experience in law enforcement.
  • A combination of education and experience is acceptable for this position.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the City of Hampton's criteria.
  • Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.

Additional Requirements

  • May require working non-standard hours including evenings, holidays and weekends.
  • May require some local travel.
