This position assists with tracking work, maintaining systems, preparing reporting, and documenting procedures to help the Legal Department operate efficiently and effectively.Essential FunctionsCoordinate matter intake, workflow tracking, and task prioritization related to legal operationsMaintain and support legal technology and systems such as matter management, contract management, e‑billing, and other technological integrationsAssist with vendor and law firm management, including invoice tracking, budget/spend, and outside counsel performancePrepare dashboards, reports, and metrics to measure legal operations' performanceDocument workflows, procedures, and playbooks to improve consistency and efficiencyLeverage advanced technology, analytics and critical thinking skills to identify opportunities for operational efficiency and continued improvementSupport a variety of operational needs and other projects as delegated by the Legal Operations ManagerDraft legal documents and correspondence for attorney reviewAssist with corporate governance activities, trademarks, regulatory filings, and other legal or regulatory transactional needs of the Legal DepartmentProvide general administrative and operational assistance to the Legal DepartmentBasic office management tasks such as ordering supplies and ensuring meeting room technology is setup and operational supportCoordinate meetings, trainings, and department initiativesCollaborate with attorneys, legal staff, and cross‑functional teams (Finance, IT, Compliance) to further bank or department initiativesPerform other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills & Abilities RequiredIntermediate knowledge of legal operations, including best practicesAbility to demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality in handling sensitive informationDemonstrated ability to work independently with limited supervision, apply critical thinking and exercise sound judgment and proactively identify and address operational needsStrong analytical, organizational and problem‑solving skills; ability to manage multiple initiatives and deliver results with minimal guidanceFamiliarity with, or willingness to learn, legal department systems (such as matter management, e‑billing, contract management, or document management tools) preferredAdaptable, collaborative, with the ability to remain calm and objective in complex situations with a commitment to personal accountabilityMotivated and organized self‑starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple prioritiesInquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsAbility to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core ValuesIntermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and OutlookEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree (business, legal studies, finance, or related field) or equivalent combination of education and experience required3+ years legal operations, business operations, or related experience roles requiredLaw firm, financial services, or administrative/operations experience requiredFor individuals applying, assigned and/or hired to work in areas with pay transparency requirements, Commerce is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for some roles. At Commerce, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation.
