Legal Secretary (Civil Litigation)

Location: Folsom, CA (Hybrid)
Pay Rate: $40.71/hour
Duration: 6-Month W-2 Contract

About the Role

We are seeking a Legal Secretary with civil litigation experience to support up to two attorneys in a fast-paced legal environment. This is a primarily remote, hybrid opportunity based in Folsom, CA, with occasional in-office attendance for meetings, trial preparation, and initial onboarding/training.

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a paperless legal environment while managing multiple priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, edit, and proofread legal correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents
  • Draft routine legal documents and attorney correspondence
  • Maintain electronic case files, calendars, and litigation records
  • Coordinate court filings, including California e-filings
  • Manage attorney calendars, court deadlines, depositions, hearings, mediations, and medical examinations
  • Coordinate with retained experts and outside parties as needed
  • Support trial preparation and other litigation activities
  • Work within electronic document management systems and maintain organized digital files

Required Qualifications

  • 0–2 years of legal secretary or legal administrative experience
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, legal procedures, and document formatting
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Office 365, Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, OneDrive)
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fully electronic document environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of legal secretary experience
  • Civil litigation experience
  • Experience with California court procedures and e-filing
  • Familiarity with legal document management systems such as Team Connect or e-Docs
  • Adobe Acrobat/PDF editing experience
  • Trial preparation experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
