The Prosecuting Attorney's Office has an opening for a Legal Secretary position. This position provides administrative support to the criminal teams by entering case information for prosecutorial review . The work involves entering cases received by law enforcement into eProsecutor, our internal case management systems, managing the cold case queue to ensure timely updates and prioritization, reviewing and linking supplemental law enforcement reports to existing case entries, identifying and deleting incomplete or duplicative case records, navigating and utilizing a variety of digital systems, including law enforcement report management platforms, prosecutorial case management systems and digital records databases

This position requires a proven ability to work independently and manage time efficiently in a deadline-driven environment, strong judgment and decision-making skills, especially when priorities shift, an ability to maintain focus, accuracy, and consistency in a high-volume workflow. Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving abilities, a high level of organization and attention to detail, proficiency in multitasking and adapting to new or evolving technology platforms.

Prior experience in a legal, law enforcement, or criminal justice setting is strongly preferred.

This position a project position funded with grant funding secured through the end of 2026, however, continuation of funding is being requested through the 2027 budget process.

This position is represented by Local 11 - OPEIU (Office and Professional Employees International Union, AFL-CIO).

The top candidate for this position will be subject to fingerprinting and a criminal history record check prior to being offered employment with the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney''s Office. Additionally, references will be checked for the final candidate.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and at least six months of experience providing office/administrative support emphasizing multi-tasking, problem solving and excellent customer service. The incumbents must be able to type at a rate of no less than 40 words per minute.

All combinations of education, experience, and training that demonstrate the ability to perform the work will be considered.

The ideal candidate will have the following strengths:

  • Strong data entry skills
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Adobe Professional, Outlook, Excel, and database experience
  • Ability to deal with graphic content (i.e. crime scene photos, police reports, autopsy photos and reports, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and problem solving skill
  • Experience with legal processes and/or the criminal justice system
  • Valid Driver's license required
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check

Retirement Information

All Clark County employees must participate in a WASHINGTON STATE RETIREMENT SYSTEM PLAN (PERS, PSERS or LEOFF).Employee contributions begin the first day of work. Current contribution rates vary by plan but could range from 5% to 15% of gross pay, depending on the plan choice.
