The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in helping to drive patent prosecution activities forward and support operational initiatives. The position is ideally suited for a detail-oriented professional looking to work in a fast-paced collaborative department. This position requires a thorough understanding of intellectual property laws, to include a strong working knowledge of patent prosecution lifecycle activities in support of our business objectives. All Qualcomm employees are expected to actively support diversity on their teams, and in the Company. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for supporting attorneys on patent prosecution matters.
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelors degree and 5+ years of experience in the legal field and 5+ years of industry-specific legal experience. • Paralegal Certificate and 5+ years of experience in the legal field and 5+ years of industry-specific legal experience. • High School diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of experience in the legal field and 8+ years of industry-specific legal experience.
Responsibilities: Assist with the strategic management of intellectual property matters, including monitoring of Qualcomms patent portfolio and critical deadlines. Manage deadlines and correspondence with the USPTO, Outside Counsel, and Foreign Associates. Serve as a liaison and the first point of contact for invention disclosures and prosecution. Assist in all phases of patent prosecution, including preparing and filing US and PCT applications, amendments, responses, and payments with the USPTO. Extensive communication and collaboration with Outside Counsel, Foreign Associates, and internal teams. Assist with special projects as needed. Conduct US and foreign prosecution-related legal research.
Additional Preferred Qualifications: Extensive knowledge of US patent rules and procedures and strong proficiency and understanding of USPTO Patent Center and EFS-Web filing system and requirements. Working knowledge of patent prosecution practices in the PCT, EP, and other major jurisdictions worldwide. Independent and strategic thinker who is a strong team player and willing to take on additional responsibilities. Ability to use logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions, strong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel required, PowerPoint and Visio a plus). Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and superior task management skills which enable you to work in a fast-changing environment. Ability to build and foster productive relationships with cross-functional teams to drive efficiencies. 1 year experience working with IP Manager. Prior leadership experience a plus.
Physical Requirements: Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile. Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs. Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting). Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.

Pay Range and Other Compensation & Benefits: $47.27 - $70.91 The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
