TDEC''s Office of General Counsel (OGC) has a welcoming and collaborative culture focused on development and fostering success among its staff. OGC is seeking to add two Legislative and Rulemaking Support Attorneys to OGC''s team. This is an exciting opportunity for attorneys looking to join a mission driven team focused on delivering quality work while enjoying work-life balance.

Job Overview:

These positions require a Tennessee law license and a minimum of two years of experience as an attorney. Experience drafting legislation or rules is preferred. The positions are located in Nashville, TN with opportunities to work from home. The individual is required to work in the downtown Nashville office one day per week most of the year, but three days per week during the legislative session (typically January-April).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert on drafting legislation and regulations; Provide internal and external guidance on both the legislative and rulemaking processes; Develop supporting materials and legislation for department legislative proposals; During the legislative session, review and track filed bills and amendments and analyze the impact to the department; Draft amendments to bills filed during session that affect the department; Draft, review, and edit regulations and manage numerous simultaneous rulemakings to meet deadlines; Perform other legal tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Tennessee law license and a minimum of two years of experience as an attorney.
