Leisure Programs Instructor - Swim Lessons Salary $15.00 Hourly Location Green River, WY Job Type Part-Time Job Number 2019-010 Department Parks & Recreation Division Leisure Programs Opening Date 02/06/2019 Closing Date Continuous Description Benefits DEFINITION Under general supervision, the Swim Instructor is responsible for providing swim lessons to students of all levels and abilities based on the American Red Cross (ARC) Learn-to-Swim standards and program requirements. SUPERVISION The Swim Instructor reports to the Recreation Programs Supervisor.This position supervises patrons in group activities, but does not exercise supervision over other staff members. EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Instruct patrons in the specialized recreational activity of swim lessons.Interact with patrons.Perform other related job duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS Ability to: Effectively teach.Follow oral and written instructions.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.Distinguish varying levels of cleanliness and take necessary measures to ensure a clean environment (i.e. mopping, sweeping, hosing down, shoveling, window cleaning, vacuuming, polishing tables, etc.).Possess physical conditioning required to perform duties as an instructor in the specialized recreational activity. All instructor positions require the ability to effectively lead citizens in a comprehensive workout in the appropriate category.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAge Requirement:Must be 15 years of age or older.License/Certification:Current CPR certification.Current First Aid certification.Current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.Experience Required:Any combination of education, training, and experience that would provide necessary instruction skills and expertise in area of instruction.ESSENTIAL DUTIES REQUIRE THE FOLLOWING PHYSICAL SKILLS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, twist, and grasp; work with hands above shoulder height with up to 40 lbs.; work with arms extended at shoulder height with up to 20 lbs.; and lift or carry 50 lbs. or less and push and/or pull heavy weights (over 75 lb. weights) on a regular basis.
