Job Summary

The College of Engineering, Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Michigan, invites applicants for a part-time LEO Lecturer I position to teach ENTR 390.200 - Entrepreneurial Project Management during the Fall 2026 term. This is a part-time (20% effort), in-person position.

Responsibilities*

The Center for Entrepreneurship's courses are the epitome of experiential learning, demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset, and are open to all U-M students.

The person in this position will be responsible for teaching ENTR 390.200 - Entrepreneurial Project Management (2 credits) during the Fall 2026 term.

Utilizing case studies to frame experiential learning, in this elective course, you will teach:

• Personal Vision, Professional Identity, and Leadership Style: Guide students in crafting and articulating their personal vision, professional identity, and leadership style.
• Opportunity Identification & Problem Framing: Teach students to analyze opportunities and formulate clear, actionable problem statements.
• Vision, Value Proposition & Assumptions: Instruct students in constructing vision statements and evaluating key assumptions underlying project success.
• Scope, Deliverables & Constraints: Guide students in defining project scope, identifying deliverables, and analyzing constraints.
• Stakeholders & Prioritization: Teach students to identify stakeholders, assess influence, and prioritize competing needs and interests.
• Success Criteria, Requirements & Project Charter: Instruct students in defining success criteria, developing project requirements, and constructing project charters.
• Agile Project Management: Teach Agile principles and systems, applying iterative planning approaches and organizing effective work cycles.
• Work Breakdown, Dependencies & Scheduling: Guide students in decomposing work, sequencing tasks, identifying dependencies, and constructing project schedules.
• Risk & Contingency Planning: Teach students to identify risks, assess potential impacts, and formulate mitigation and contingency strategies.
• Team Design, Roles & Accountability: Facilitate student learning around team formation, role definition, accountability, and collaborative effectiveness.
• Communication & Stakeholder Management: Teach students to communicate project updates clearly, manage stakeholder expectations, and respond effectively to feedback.
• Monitoring, Metrics & Iteration: Guide students in defining performance metrics, monitoring progress, analyzing deviations, and adjusting plans as needed.
• Final Project Evaluation: Support students in integrating project analyses, evaluating project viability, and formulating evidence-based recommendations.

The course is scheduled for 14 weeks during the Fall 2026 term. Course faculty will be responsible for preparing interactive course materials, weekly lecturing, holding office hours weekly, preparing class exercises, preparing and grading assessments, managing and grading class projects, and attending the CFE's Faculty Community Meetings.

Required Qualifications*

• Master's degree in a relevant field (or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience).
• Demonstrated ability to teach and engage undergraduate students in a classroom environment, including experience facilitating experiential, project-based learning.
• Professional experience leading complex projects in industry, entrepreneurship, nonprofit, public-sector, or organizational settings, with responsibility for planning, execution, stakeholder management, and project evaluation.
• Expertise in Agile and adaptive project management approaches, including iterative planning, continuous improvement, team accountability, and managing uncertainty in dynamic environments.
• Demonstrated ability to translate ambiguity into actionable project plans, including opportunity identification, problem framing, requirements definition, project charter development, and feasibility assessment.
• Experience leading and collaborating within multidisciplinary, team-based environments and guiding teams through ambiguity, competing priorities, and organizational change.
• Demonstrated ability to establish credibility, rapport, and effective mentoring relationships with students from diverse academic backgrounds.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and team-building skills, including experience delivering effective oral, written, and visual presentations to diverse audiences.

This position is posted for the Fall 2026 term at 20% effort (8 hours per week).
