General Duties: Lead the NICU 24/7 to ensure safe, high-quality nursing care. Oversee daily operations, staffing, and patient flow. Report to the Nursing Director of Women, Infants, and Children. Department Duties: Supervise all clinical and ancillary staff in the NICU. Mentor Clinical Managers and Resource Nurses. Manage schedules for both shifts. Ensure compliance with standards, policies, and regulatory requirements. Support action plans and department goals with the Director. Maintain current policies and procedures with the Director and Clinical Educator. Round on families after admission and resolve concerns. Maintain compliance with Title 22, TJC, CDPH, and CCS. Serve as an expert consultant on complex patient care. Review acuity data and adjust staffing appropriately. Track and report productivity each pay period with variance explanations. Review and correct statistical reports monthly. Oversee Kronos functions and timekeeping. Develop capital equipment lists and submit to the Director. Ensure timely handling of supplies, invoices, and contracts. Complete new hire and annual evaluations on time. Maintain current, compliant employee files and credentials. Investigate incidents and complete documentation and action plans. Support Clinical Managers and Resource Nurses on operations. Recognize staff and lead staff meetings and the Neonatal Operations Committee. Counsel staff effectively and on time. Represent the Director and NICU in committees and meetings. Monitor performance improvement results and trend data with the Director. Present improvement outcomes to staff. Provide direct patient care as needed. Assist with procedures and respond to emergencies. Collaborate continuously with the NICU Medical Director and NICU Director. Seek feedback and professional growth opportunities. Required Qualifications: Level III NICU Manager experience. At least 5 years of NICU experience. At least 3 years of full-time NICU leadership experience. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current California RN license. BSN or BSN in progress with a defined completion date. Current AHA BLS certification. Current NRP certification. Neonatal Intensive Care certification (NCC or equivalent) or in progress with a defined completion date. Required Skills: Strong clinical competence and leadership skills. Professional communication and presentation skills. Ability to collaborate with the Nursing Director and Medical Director. Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree in Nursing. NRP Instructor certification. Critical care transport experience. Key Required Skills and Certifications: 5+ years Level III NICU Manager experience. BSN. NCC Neonatal Intensive Care certification.
