Key Responsibilities:
Infection Prevention Liaisons (IPLs) monitor hand hygiene practices, staff compliance with isolation precautions and personal protective equipment and conduct quality assurance checks for share mobile equipment in various areas in the hospital across all eight NYP campuses. IPLs are trained and validated to conduct direct observations, which is the gold standard in monitoring hand hygiene and other infection prevention practices. In addition to conducting hand hygiene observations, they also educate healthcare workers about any missed hand hygiene or other infection prevention opportunities. After educating HCWs about missed opportunities, IPLs document and communicate the results of their observations to supervisors, managers and Patient Care Directors (PCDs), medical directors and other hospital leaders. IPLs report directly to the Program Manager for Infection Prevention & Control Department.
Infection Prevention & Control Liaisons conduct direct observations, which is the gold standard in monitoring hand hygiene and other infection prevention practices to satisfy Joint Commission, CMS and the Department of Health standards.A
