Job Summary:
The Student Success Librarian at Hawai?i Pacific Universitys Library & Learning Commons plays a vital role in advancing student learning, engagement, and academic success. This position serves as a primary point of contact for research assistance, library instruction, outreach, and student engagement initiatives, working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and campus partners to support student achievement and retention. The Student Success Librarian is responsible for providing research consultations, delivering library instruction, developing learning materials, coordinating outreach and engagement activities, and assessing student needs through surveys, focus groups, and other feedback mechanisms.
The position serves as the librarys lead coordinator for student-facing programs, events, displays, and marketing efforts designed to increase awareness and use of library resources and services. In addition, the Student Success Librarian supervises and mentors student employees, collaborates with the Center for Academic Success, Student Life, and other campus departments, and contributes to the continuous improvement of library services, programs, and spaces. Responsibilities include supporting student worker training and development, assisting with public services operations, participating in assessment activities, and recommending service enhancements based on student feedback and institutional priorities.
The role requires strong communication, instructional, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to manage multiple projects, build collaborative relationships, and develop innovative approaches to supporting student success. The ideal candidate will be student-centered, highly organized, adaptable, and committed to fostering an inclusive, welcoming, and engaging learning environment for a diverse student population.
Location: This position will be based out of our downtown Honolulu campus sites - Waterfront Plaza and Aloha Tower Marketplace.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:
Student Success, Outreach, and Engagement (35%)
Serve as the librarys primary coordinator for student engagement initiatives that support student success, belonging, retention, and academic achievement.
Develop, coordinate, and assess library programs, workshops, events, displays, and outreach activities that promote student engagement with library resources and services.
Collaborate with Student Life, the Center for Academic Success, faculty, and campus partners to support institutional student success initiatives.
Lead student focus groups, surveys, and other assessment activities to gather feedback on library services, spaces, resources, and programs.
Analyze student feedback and recommend improvements to services, programs, spaces, and operational practices.
Coordinate Welcome Week, orientation activities, de-stress events, National Library Week activities, Banned Books Week programming, and other student-centered initiatives.
Assist with marketing and promotion of library services through digital and in-person outreach efforts.
Research, Instruction, and Academic Support (30%)
Provide research consultations and individualized support to students.
Teach library instruction sessions in support of course learning outcomes and information literacy goals.
Develop and maintain online learning materials, tutorials, guides, and instructional resources.
Support initiatives related to information literacy, AI literacy, academic integrity, and student research skills.
Collaborate with faculty to integrate library resources and research skills into the curriculum.
Public Services and Student Worker Leadership (20%)
Assist with service desk operations and provide support for circulation and access services activities as needed.
Train, supervise, mentor, and support student employees working in public service areas.
Monitor student service experiences and recommend improvements that enhance service quality and student satisfaction.
Assist with scheduling student employees and ensuring appropriate service coverage.
Collaborate with library staff to continuously review workflows and recommend improvements to services and operations.
Assessment, Partnerships, and Professional Service (10%)
Collect, analyze, and report data related to student engagement, instruction, outreach, and library services.
Participate in assessment projects that support evidence-based decision making.
Serve on university and library committees, task forces, and working groups as assigned.
Develop partnerships that strengthen the librarys role in student success and academic achievement.
Other Duties as Assigned (5%)
Actively contribute as a team member by completing assigned duties and accepting additional assignments or reassignments.
Participate in seasonal activities and special projects that support the mission of the Library & Learning Commons.
