Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
Iowa State University Library is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time (40 hours per week) Evening Library Assistant III and a full-time (40 hours per week) Weekend/Evening Library Assistant III. As a member of the Access Services team at ISU Library, this person provides circulation and limited reference services to the ISU community and is responsible for providing a safe environment within the library. They functionally oversee student employees, assisting with training and ensuring student employees complete daily tasks, and provide excellent customer service at our main service point and throughout the building. The Library Assistant III serves as the primary supervisor on duty during evening and/or weekend library hours. This position is responsible for the opening and/or closing duties of Parks Library and conducting safety rounds throughout the building.
These positions require an ability to both work independently and function well within a team, provide excellent customer service in a variety of situations, task switch with frequent interruptions, resolve problems in a timely manner, and readily respond to changing circumstances. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently as well as collaboratively in a rapidly changing, team-based environment which will require the use of organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills, and the ability to interact and communicate effectively with library staff and the university community. These skills will aid the candidate in formulating and implementing innovative approaches and solutions to problems and communicating complex ideas to a wide range of audiences.
