This paraprofessional position provides library services primarily to children, teens, parents, and caregivers. Work involves basic research, readers' advisory, children's and teens' classes, special events, library tours, and school visits. Operates audio-visual equipment. Work involves bibliographic searching using an online public access catalog (OPAC). This position requires interacting with the public and assisting with special projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of two (2) years of college-level coursework (must specify 60-semester/90-quarter hours),
OR
Graduation from high school/equivalent; minimum of one (1) year of college-level coursework (must specify 30-semester/45-quarter hours) AND one (1) year of experience working in a library,
OR
Graduation from high school/equivalent; minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a library.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience in public or customer service,
Experience providing hands-on computer/electronic technology instructions for the public, and
Bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole).
