    As an Events and Communications GA to the Events and Communications Specialist at the Cunningham Memorial Library, the person in this position might be responsible for a range of tasks that support the smooth execution of events and the effective promotion of library activities. This role offers a few creative and logistical tasks, providing a valuable opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in event planning, social media management, and design, all while contributing to the library's mission and enhancing the campus community's engagement.

    Work Schedule

    No less than 20 hours per week

    Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm could have some evening events.

    Previous Work or Volunteer Experience:

    • Experience in event planning, marketing, social media management, or customer service can be highly valuable.

    Academic Background:

    • Coursework or projects related to communications, marketing, graphic design, or event management.
    • Bachelors in Marketing or Communications, working toward MBA

    Portfolio:

    • A portfolio showcasing previous design work, social media campaigns, or event-related projects (if applicable).

    Technical Skills

    Social Media Platforms: Familiarity with major platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.).

    Design Software: Experience with graphic design tools like Adobe Creative Suite and Canva preferred.

    General Technology: Ability to navigate computers and a general knowledge of audio/visual presentation equipment. Proficiency in office applications like Microsoft.

    Event Coordination: Ability to manage multiple tasks, keep track of details, and ensure smooth execution of events.

    Time Management: Skill in prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    Job Duties

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Social Media Monitoring and Management

    Content Creation: Assist in creating and scheduling social media posts to promote events, services, and library resources across social media platforms.

    Engagement: Respond to comments and messages in an appropriate and fun manner, engage with followers/students, and monitor social media interactions.

    Event Setup and Execution

    Logistics: Assist in setting up event spaces, including arranging furniture and setting up audiovisual equipment, as well as assisting with food preparation and catering coordination.

    Coordination: Assist with day-of event tasks such as checking in guests, managing registration tables, and aiding with small tasks that arise as the event occurs.

    Support: Provide general support during events, such as managing refreshments, assisting speakers, or addressing any issues that may arise.

    Design and Production of Promotional Materials

    Print Management: Oversee the printing of materials, ensuring they meet quality standards and are distributed in a timely manner.

    Collaboration: Work with the events and publicity coordinator to ensure that designs align with the library's branding and messaging. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Canva is preferred.

    Administrative Support

    Documentation: Assist with creating and maintaining event schedules, contact lists, and other relevant documentation as it relates to events coordination.

    Outreach: Help with outreach efforts to student organizations or other campus groups to promote library events.
