POSITION TITLE: Library Media Assistant, High School

FLSA: Non-exempt

REPORTS TO: SSHS Librarian and SSHS Administrators

LOCATION: High School Library

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 185-day contract with benefits according to

Siloam Springs School Board policies

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma
  • Bilingual Spanish/English desired but not required
  • Experience working in a professional office setting
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Google Suite
  • Able to operate personal computer, laptop computer, peripheral computer equipment, photocopier, fax machine, and other office equipment with a high degree of skill
  • Highly motivated with strong organizational skills
  • Able to coordinate multiple tasks at one time
  • Self-starter; able to work independently
  • Open minded, fast learner, trainable
  • Strong telephone and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with eSchool and eFinance desired but not required

JOB DUTIES:

  • Run the circulation desk (checking in/out books)
  • Assist patrons in finding proper materials
  • Shelve materials
  • Keep the library clean for patrons
  • Read YA books
  • Fix and power wash computers, replace computer keys/keyboards and screens
  • Log technical issues
  • Communicate effectively with students regarding technology issues and fixes
  • Understand confidentiality and library laws when explained
  • Enjoy teenagers
  • Manage a room full of teenagers
  • Work with teachers in a productive manner
  • Other duties as assigned
