Position Summary

The Prescott School District is seeking a student-centered, organized, and technology-savvy Library Media Assistant to support the daily operations of the High School Library Media Center. This position plays an important role in creating a welcoming learning environment where students and staff have access to quality library resources, technology, and academic support.

Working under the direction of the Library Media Specialist, the Library Media Assistant assists with library circulation, media center organization, instructional support, technology management, and student supervision. The successful candidate enjoys working with high school students, provides exceptional customer service, and is able to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced educational setting.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

Library Responsibilities

  • Operate specialized computer systems for circulating media center materials.
  • Assist students with instructional tasks.
  • Assist and instruct students with book selection; charge and discharge books.
  • Assist students with location and use of media center materials.
  • Assist with inventory of all media center materials, including print materials and technology.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:

General knowledge of the procedures, practices and equipment of a school media center; ability to use computer or Chromebook to access online program and databases; ability to learn standard library tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routines; ability to perform routine office duties and record keeping tasks; ability to operate standard office machines; strong organization skills and flexibility to adjust to unforeseen circumstances--a strong multi-tasker; ability to operate data processing and audio-visual equipment; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and school employees; patience for and excitement for working with 40+ students utilizing the media center at the same time.
