Allen Park High School Library Media Center Technician (Non-Aligned) Hours will flex based on building needs
Candidates must meet "highly qualified" standards by meeting one of the following: Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 semester hours) or Obtain an associate's degree (or higher) or Meet the HQ standard through a formal, approved assessment.

High School Library Media Center Technician
Qualifications: Shall be a High School graduate with a "Highly Qualified" state test or 60 college credit hours Passes criminal background and unprofessional conduct checks Clean and Neat Personal Appearance Physical ability to perform job functions (with reasonable accommodations(s), if necessary) Shall be self-sufficient and require a minimum of supervision or assistance to aid in the education of school children Possess sufficient training and/or experience to perform the responsibilities listed below Other qualifications as deemed necessary by the Board of Education
Job Goal: To assist teachers and students in the effective use of the Library Media Center as a learning resource
Reports to: Building Principal and School Librarian
The primary role of the library para is to assist the school librarian in daily operations of the school library and perform other duties as assigned by the school librarian and building administration. Maintaining student privacy, a high level of customer service and adhering to the Library Bill of Rights are of utmost importance. Hours flexed based on building needs.
Skills required to perform the job effectively include: Strong ability to pay attention to detail Capable of taking direction and working independently Excellent written and verbal communication skills Possess highly effective organizational skills Dependable and flexible Ability to recognize and prevent situations that may be harmful or hazardous to a student's safety and well-being Possess strong interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to successfully juggle multiple tasks at once

Job duties/tasks include but are not limited to:
Daily Open Library at the beginning of each day Check in materials - books, Chromebooks, devices Check out materials - books, Chromebooks, devices Supervise students during lunch periods (students free to use space on their lunch) Shelve books Keep shelves neat, organized, and in order according to their call # Monitor students in the library using our digital sign in/out system Troubleshoot Chromebooks and other tech when needed Troubleshoot laminator when needed Assist students in selecting books for academic and personal use Book repairs as needed Process new materials using Follett Destiny (books, ebooks, and devices) Manage holds and interlibrary loan materials Maintain maker space and makerspace resources and keep area neat and clean Assist teachers with library space sign out Assist students and teachers in accessing and using library databases, ebooks/audiobooks and video streaming Other duties as assigned
Monthly Send out overdue notices to students - electronic and paper Manage displays (can be digital) Assist with updating the library website and social media accounts Change out maker table activities Inventory supplies and resources
Annual/Biannual Assist with collection inventory Assist with collection weeding Assist with set up, break down of special events including Book Fairs and Author Visits
