Library Media Specialist

Green Bay Area Catholic Education (GRACE)- Notre Dame of De Pere Catholic School is looking for a part-time Library Media Specialist for the 26-27 school year. This role is about 16 hours a week. A library media specialist is an experienced educator who helps run the school's library program and teaches students how to find, evaluate and use information. The library media specialist also collaborates with classroom teachers to design research projects, align resources with lesson plans, and support diverse learning needs. In addition, our library media specialist may be asked to build, curate, and maintain a balanced, up-to-date collection of approved print books, digital databases, and multimedia materials.

Essential Functions:

Help promote a love of reading.

• Operate and supervise the library.
• Be responsible for the physical appearance of the library (bulletin boards, displays, orderly shelves, etc.)
• Select, order, and catalog books, periodicals, etc. on an ongoing basis.
• Catalog and be responsible for all audio-visual materials.
• Be a resource for teachers whenever possible in selection of books, audio-visual materials, etc.
• Schedule library orientation for those classrooms which request it.
• Schedule weekly library time for each classroom.
• Be available to assist students in the selection of books and/or research materials.
• Supervise aids in checking out books, shelving books, etc.
• Work on special projects as requested.
• Take inventory at the end of each school year. Repair or eliminate books as necessary.
• Help promote an overall positive learning environment.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Bachelor''s degree
• Teaching license or currently working towards a teaching license
• Experience working with students

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, and frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk. The employee will use the hands feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally exert or lift up to 20 pounds. Successful performance requires specific vision abilities that include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision
