Pay Grade: 105

Hourly Salary Range: $22.06 - $32.54

The successful candidate's placement in the salary range will depend upon previous experience in a similar role.

DESCRIPTION / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

This position performs a variety of specialized, skilled, and paraprofessional support activities in the library. Catalogs and processes library materials, receives and distributes incoming materials, creates and edits bibliographic records, mends damaged materials, and monitors processing supplies. Assists with programming, marketing, collections and outreach in assigned areas. Applies technical knowledge of library procedures, policies, and materials in daily tasks and projects.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Designs and produces documents, and promotional materials to support youth reading programs and family engagement.¿
  • Prepares and maintains bibliographic, authority, and holdings records; ensures accuracy and consistency in library databases using cataloging standards.
  • ¿Performs complex acquisitions work, maintains standing order and serials databases, and resolves billing or delivery issues with vendors.
  • ¿Assists users with locating materials and using computer-based resources; responds to general and routine questions.
  • ¿¿Handles interlibrary loan and reserve requests; maintains records and notifies users when materials are available.¿
  • Reconciles receipts, processes invoices, and maintains financial and statistical files and reports.
  • Supports library volunteers, patron accounts, including registration, account updates, and cash handling.
  • Resolves complex customer service issues and responds to inquiries in person, by phone, and electronically.
  • May perform responsibilities of a similar nature and level as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

Six (6) months of experience

Candidates must have the minimum amount of work experience. Years of experience are based upon a full-time work schedule (2,080 hours per year). The sum of an applicant's full-time and/or part-time qualifying work experience must meet or exceed the stated minimum qualification. Education will not substitute for the required work experience; however, related unpaid and/or volunteer work experience may be used as qualifying work experience.

Education:

Equivalent to an associate or vocational/technical school degree in Liberal Arts, Library Science, or related field.

The term "equivalent" means that directly related work experience exceeding the required work experience will substitute in equal one-year increments for college-level education (2 additional years for an associate degree and 4 additional years for a bachelor's degree).
