The Community Services Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Library Support Staff. This is a part-time position assigned to work at any of the Stockton-San Joaquin County Public Libraries. Library Support Staff will assist customers at the Information and Circulation desks, provide support for library programs serving all ages, and may help in the Literacy and Community Education section.
This position works part-time as a Library Support Staff on an "on-call" basis, working up to 19 1/2 hours per week (hours may vary week to week), without benefits.
Incumbents in this position are excluded from the Civil Service system and are unrepresented. (Unclassified/Unrepresented)
Prior to appointment, eligible candidates will be required to submit to and successfully pass a background investigation, which will include fingerprinting.
Under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks related to the delivery of library services support to the public; assignment may be at any of the Librarys sites located throughout San Joaquin County; performs related work as assigned.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform routine library support services, including the circulation and retrieval of library materials, assisting patrons with accessing and use of library resources, and answering basic reference questions. As increased knowledge and skill are achieved, assignments are carried out with greater independence within established guidelines.
