Job Description

The Center for Child Well-Being, housed within the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Missouri School of Medicine, seeks a licensed behavioral health clinical consultant to support children involved with the Department of Social Services.

The clinical consultant builds collaborative relationships with Children's Division staff, caregivers, behavioral health providers, and other professionals involved in a child's care to help children access appropriate services. This role works across systems to gather and clarify relevant behavioral health information, identify needs and barriers to care, connect youth and their care teams with appropriate resources, and facilitate communication and coordination among those involved in the child's care to support successful outcomes.

The clinical consultant also participates in multidisciplinary workgroups and other collaborative initiatives focused on strengthening behavioral health services and improving outcomes for children. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, sound clinical judgment, strong organizational abilities, and the capability to navigate complex behavioral health and child welfare systems while maintaining a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Gather and review relevant behavioral and physical health information to understand each child's needs, current services, gaps in care, and barriers to accessing appropriate services.
• Identify and recommend appropriate behavioral health and community-based services and resources based on the individual needs of the child.
• Provide consultation and facilitate communication among Children's Division staff, caregivers, providers, and other professionals involved in the child's care to support coordinated services and positive outcomes.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Children's Division staff, caregivers, contracted partners, providers, and other professionals across Missouri's child welfare and behavioral health systems.
• Maintain current knowledge of Missouri's child welfare, behavioral health, and community resource systems to provide informed consultation and resource recommendations.
• Communicate relevant health information, identified needs, service options, and recommendations to care teams, caregivers, and program partners in a clear, timely, and professional manner.
• Document consultations, care coordination activities, communications, referrals, resources, and recommendations in REDCap and other applicable data systems, ensuring records are timely, accurate, and complete.
• Monitor recurring barriers to care, service gaps, emerging trends, and systemic concerns and communicate findings and recommendations to program leadership and collaborative partners.
• Participate in and support the planning and facilitation of Behavioral Health Workgroup, Missouri Trauma Roundtable, BBI meetings, and other multidisciplinary workgroups and collaborative initiatives.
• Prepare and contribute to quarterly reports, including the review and compilation of relevant case information.
• Apply a trauma-informed approach in all interactions with children, families, Children's Division staff, providers, and other members of the child's care team.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of program and organizational objectives.

Monday - Friday

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Occasional nights and weekends

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in psychology, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or social work and relevant licensure (or eligible to be licensed within 12 months) within the State of Missouri.

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in social work

Credentials: LCSW or LMSW

Years of Experience: 5

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $52,000 - $56,000 annually for .80 FTE, or $65,000 - $70,000 for 1.0 FTE

Grade: GGS - 010
