A Licensed Educational Interpreter (Sign Language) is needed to work 7.25 hours per day at Menomonie Middle School. Work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on days that school is in session (approximately 189 school days) with wages, hours and conditions of employment in accordance with the School District of the Menomonie Area Employee Handbook. The starting wage is $29.66 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. The position is to begin on January 5, 2026.   The successful applicant will have the ability to facilitate communication among deaf and hard-of-hearing students and their hearing peers, classroom teachers, and other school personnel. Other responsibilities include providing direct communication and support for the student to access information throughout the day, providing social communication support so the student has meaningful interactions with peers, enhancing the student's learning of vocabulary and language by breaking down concepts to his/her language level, and any additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications include excellent communication skills, ability to work effectively with a team, ability to interpret oral to sign language and vice versa, an associates degree or certification in sign language interpreting, and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) license #O020 (Educational Interpreter-Hearing Impairment). Experience working with deaf and/or hard of hearing students is desired. This position will remain open until filled with first review of application on December 4, 2025. EOE.
