Description: Licensed Fire Alarm Technician
TradeSTAR is currently hiring experienced Licensed Fire Alarm Technicians for commercial life safety projects in the San Antonio area. These positions are with established fire alarm and low-voltage contractors supporting commercial construction, system upgrades, inspections, and service projects.
We are seeking highly skilled technicians with current fire alarm licensing and strong experience installing, servicing, troubleshooting, and commissioning commercial fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA and local code requirements.
Job Responsibilities
Install, service, troubleshoot, and commission commercial fire alarm systems
Perform installation and maintenance of:
o Fire alarm control panels
o Smoke detectors
o Pull stations
o Horn/strobes
o Heat detectors
o Monitor and control modules
o Voice evacuation systems
o NAC circuits and notification devices
Program and troubleshoot addressable fire alarm systems
Perform system testing, inspections, and final commissioning
Read and interpret:
o Blueprints
o Riser diagrams
o Wiring schematics
o Sequence of operations
o Device layouts
Troubleshoot ground faults, open circuits, NAC issues, and communication faults
Ensure installations comply with:
o NFPA 72
o NEC requirements
o Local AHJ codes
o Manufacturer specifications
Maintain accurate inspection reports, service documentation, and as-built drawings
Coordinate with inspectors, project managers, general contractors, and other trades
Assist with customer training and system turnover
Qualifications
Current Texas Fire Alarm License required
3+ years of commercial fire alarm experience
Experience with installation, service, and troubleshooting of commercial systems
Strong understanding of NFPA 72 and commercial fire alarm codes
Ability to independently diagnose and repair system issues
Experience working in commercial construction and occupied facilities
Reliable transportation and industry-standard hand tools required

NICET certification is a plus.
