Job Description

The Journeyman Electrician will work on job sites primarily in Buffalo, NY and surrounding cities. Some travel will be required for the role. The Licensed Electrician will support a wide range of Tesla Energy products, including Solar, Supercharger, Semi Charger and Megapak projects. Projects will range between 3 to 7 weeks by a cross-functional team of 4 to 20 members handling all trades required to get the work done collectively. The team will be expected to push the limits of construction technology and techniques, and as such will have direct feedback contact with design engineers, project managers, and business developers related to the program.

  • Perform new installation of power distribution, transformers, UG Conduit Pad work, Switchgear, AC/DC Inverters, lighting, and electrical equipment up to 480 VAC and 1000VDC. Systems may include battery storage and solar generation components

  • Bend conduit. Interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints to plan work scopes, install requested improvements, troubleshoot, and correct problems

  • Communicate clear and concisely with crew, direct supervisor, site superintendent and clients. Display a positive attitude and practice good work ethic reflective of the mission, philosophy, and goals of Tesla

  • Train new employees and educate other members of the organization about the complexities of construction implementation

  • Express leadership and initiative when handed new projects; work alongside and participate in other trades

  • Complete tasks in a timely manner and provide feedback

  • Valid State Certified Electrician License required plus knowledge in safety standards set by NEC, NFPA70E, OSHA safety and CPR-first aid

  • 2+ years of electrician journeyperson level or higher experience in industrial, military, or commercial settings. Previous electrical trades experience working with power/hand tools, electrical equipment, isolation meters and multimeters

  • Experience in handling low to high voltage up to 480 VAC and 1000VDC. Experience in Fiber optic cable terminations, medium voltage, utility scale work and PV experience preferred

  • Ability to travel to numerous sites daily and travel up to 2 weeks at a time with short notice and flexibility to work on weekends and overtime. Must have compliant government issued identification for domestic air travel and/or to access certain federal facilities

  • Ability to use trade tools, meters, technology, and all other necessary equipment to complete the job, ability to lift and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.

  • Capable of working at heights including on rooftops, climbing ladders, stairs, and performing repetitious duties; including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods of time while wearing a 25 lbs. tool belt. Ability to work in extreme environments (example: hot sun, cold, crawl spaces, etc.)

  • Valid driver's license required, flexibility to work on weekends and/or overtime along with overnight stay to support Tesla's critical mission

Expected Compensation

  • Licensed Electrician I, Ratio - $25.56 - $38.34/hour

  • Licensed Electrician II, Ratio - $30.35 - $45.52/hour

  • Licensed Electrician III, Ratio - $35.53 - $53.30/hour

  • Licensed Electrician IV, Ratio - $40.90 - $61.34/hour

  • Licensed Electrician V, Ratio - $49.00 - $73.49/hour

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
