Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group is actively seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to practice for our Behavioral Health office in Newport News.  Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group (TPMG) includes more than 220 primary care, specialty physicians and advanced practice clinicians in more than 75 locations throughout southeastern Virginia.  Behavioral health experience is preferred. The schedule is full-time work hours, Monday-Friday.
 
Position Summary
The LPN is responsible for performing a variety of clinical/administrative duties for the physician and members of the practice as well as serving as a patient advocate.
 
Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform patient intake to include medical history with accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Patient triage to include vital signs (i.e. blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperature, height and weight).
  • Perform phlebotomy and ancillary clinical kit testing and specimen collection.
  • Administers injections, immunizations and medications with training and supervision; assist the physician as needed.
  • Completing pharmaceutical prior authorizations and refill request.
  • Phone triage to include communication with pharmacies for patient medication refills with accurate documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Coordinate and support medical providers that focus on medication management and general education of medications.
  • Perform daily reconciliation of medication inventory.
  • Electronic input of patient lab, radiology orders and referrals coordinating patient care.
  • Provide crisis intervention services as necessary.
  • Participates in team meeting and clinical staffing.
  • Participates in professional development training for clinical staff.
  • Must exhibit strong computer skills, knowledge retention and organization skills.
  • Functions in a multi-disciplinary environment, which requires the application of excellent organizational and customer service skills.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Office Manager.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of multiple telephone line system, computer systems and applications.
  • Knowledge of office equipment.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation to type from draft copy, review and edit reports, and correspondence.
  • Pays strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
Education/Training/Requirements
  • COVID 19 Vaccination required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year experience in a medical environment.
  • Current VA State Licensed Practical Nurse license
  • Current CPR or BLS certification
