Job Summary
We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to work in a busy private colon rectal surgical practice consisting of 7 Surgeons, 1 Physician assistant.  Working under the direction of Registered nurse, this position will assist providers with office visits and procedures,  provide triage support to patient phone calls, schedule patient appointments and imaging services and other duties as required. 



Responsibilities 


  •  Assist physician with rooming patients and assisting with procedures .
  • Assist with management of patient test results, scheduling of imaging test and procedures.
  • Assist with Equipment cleaning 
  • Assist with providing triage(sorting/prioritizing patients) telephone calls to ensure prompt identification of patients with high-risk conditions. 
  • Talks directly to patients on the telephone and then directs them appropriate level of care.
  • Performs a short evaluation of the patient situation  to estimate the severity of the illness and/or injury including learning about the chief complaint and then confers with RN/Physician.
  • Determines urgency of seeing the patient based on brief assessment and on the familiarity with a patient condition and history. Confers with Registered nurse and/or physician as needed.  
  • Schedules  appointments for patients who do not need to go to ER but need to see a physician or arranges for an appointment scheduler to make the appointment. 
Working in a collaborative and positive manner with fellow team members. 
 
Qualifications
  • Currently (LPN) in New York State 
  • Previous experience as a  licensed practical nurse in a general surgery, colon rectal or gastrointestinal field,  is preferred.
  • Phlebotomy experience is a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and patient  care skills required
  • Previous experience with MEDENT EMR is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license
