Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Correctional Nursing

Location: Rome, NY

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a correctional healthcare setting. The LPN will provide direct patient care within a secure facility, supporting inmate health through medication administration, routine clinical assessments, and emergency response services.

This role requires strong clinical judgment, composure in high-security environments, and the ability to follow strict correctional healthcare protocols.

Schedule

  • Mid Shift: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • 5x8-hour shifts per week
  • No block scheduling
  • Contract duration: 26–52 weeks

Interview Requirement

  • In-person interview required (Mon–Fri at 3:00 PM)
  • No phone or virtual interviews permitted

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications, including controlled substances
  • Monitor inmate medication compliance and documentation
  • Perform vital sign monitoring and physical health assessments
  • Provide wound care and basic clinical treatments
  • Respond to medical emergencies within the correctional facility
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Ensure compliance with correctional health and security protocols
  • Collaborate with registered nurses and healthcare team members

Required Qualifications

  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in New York State
  • Experience in medical-surgical, ambulatory care, or behavioral health preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm in emergency and high-security environments
  • Capability to work with diverse and high-acuity patient populations
